So we bought a Flowhive about 3 years ago for Michael who'd dreamed of working a hive for years.
Hive arrived and was assembled, it was great being taught how to prepare frames.
Within 2 months the hive swarmed and we lost our beautiful placid Italian queen who was ousted by a slightly bossier and bigger queen.
Second year produced 46kgs of honey but this year only 10kgs. We think it was a wet cold spring followed by endless bushfires.
Neighbours' kids have all come over for lessons and a squizz.
We had an old mate Rich (who was an apiarist for years) come and get his bee hit on!
